Can I build the house myself, or will I need to call in a handyman or builder?

 

You need to assess your handyman skills and availability of the needed tools (link to tools). Technically, the assembly is not too difficult. Little timber sawing is required as almost everything is pre-cut and mostly pre-drilled. A two-man team build is always easier and faster.

Usually, you do not need a licensed builder to assemble the cabin. However, most handymen, carpenters and landscapers are quite capable to undertaking the job. We can assist you in finding a suitable assembly team is some locations.

What will it cost for a SelectHaus cabin to be built by a somebody else?

 

We can’t answer this directly, as only the party quoting for building can do this. Also, there are several variables that will affect the pricing, including:

• How difficult is the site to reach from where the cabin was delivered?

• How far will the builder need to travel every day?

• Licensed builders will tend to be more expensive than unlicensed handymen.

• Is the site flat or sloping and what kind of foundations are needed?

• Size of build – which model cabin is being built?

• Are you specifying a deck to be built as well?

• Any other accessories needed, such as electricity, air conditioning, which requires an electrician, or a bathroom pod which requires plumbing work.

• What painting is required?

 

However, as a general indication, a smaller model up to 10m² can be built in the range of $1,600-$3,000. A larger 20m² model can cost in the range of $8,000 to $10,000 or more to build, depending on your needs and specifics.

How long will a Select Haus cabin build take?

 

This varies depending on many factors. For example - how competent and/or fast are your builders and how difficult is your site?

​

A competent builder will take 1-2 days to build a smaller 10m² cabin. More time is needed for building a sub-frame and foundations if needed, as well as painting.

​

A larger model up to 20m² can take up to 10 days to build. A second pair of hands can reduce this substantially, as will availability of some equipment like a nail gun and compressor. You will need to plan time in addition for painting.

Are all the models shown on the website available for purchase immediately, or do I have to take into account the production time?

​

We try to keep all of our most popular models in stock. However, as some models may be sold out and new stock may be in transit to us at any given time. There is a 12-16 week shipping time from Europe. However, if you are interested in any given model, whether it is in stock or not, a model can be secured in your name with a 50% holding deposit for when you are ready for delivery and/or we have it in stock.

Can I get a consultation before placing an order?

We are conscious that most of our customers want to consult with us to discuss the most varied of questions that we can't even hope to cover completely on our website before deciding to purchase. Everybody’s needs are different and that’s normal! That is why we are available to discuss your questions via phone or by email at a time suitable to you. Just let us know what interests you, or you are unsure about.

How long does delivery take approximately?

If we have the model you desire in stock, we can ensure delivery typically within 5 working days. We strive to have all popular models in stock. We also have stock being shipped to us from Europe at any given time, so even if we don't have your model in stock we can usually deliver within 12 weeks.

What are the approximate delivery costs?

Delivery charges vary greatly depending on the model you are interested in and its size/weight and your location in Australia. The pack sizes are generally 4-6 metres long and weigh from 700-2000kg as we are delivering a lot of product to you :). The delivery will typically cost from $300-$1000 for a NSW delivery, or $500-$1200 for a Victorian delivery. In any case, please get in contact with us and we will get you a precise delivery quotation.
